Uniformed Protective Services (Vocational)

Outline

You will study a wide range of topics such as leadership, team development, physical preparation, exercise and fitness, outdoor adventurous activities, police powers and public services employment. At advanced level, you will study more specialist units such as management of major incidents, custodial care of individuals, government policies, the legal system and communication and technology.

Progression

Many of our students go into employment within the public services industry or continue with their studies at university before pursuing careers in the police, fire service or armed services. Students will also have the opportunity to progress onto our own HNC in Policing at Eccles Sixth Form College. 

Entry Requirements

Level 1 Vocational Courses: Students are required to have grade 1s/2s at GCSE.Level 2 Vocational Courses: Students are required to have a minimum of four grade 3s at GCSE.Level 3 Vocational Courses: Students are required to have achieved a minimum of five grade 4s at GCSE, which must include English.Additional Information: For Level 2 Vocational Courses, we will consider 2 Vocationals, ideally one to be in a related subject. For Level 3 Vocational Courses, we will consider 1 Vocational qualification in place of a GCSE as long as a grade 4 is achieved in English.

Don’t let the cost of studying put you off – most of our students study for FREE, and those who don’t qualify for funding are very often eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan.
