Outline

Students will develop a broad understanding of the healthcare sector, including person-centred care, safeguarding, anatomy and physiology, infection prevention and control, communication, teamwork, and professional practice. As part of the Supporting the Therapy Teams specialism, students will explore how therapy support professionals work alongside physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and other healthcare practitioners to support individuals with rehabilitation, recovery, and daily living skills.
The course also includes a minimum 315-hour industry placement, giving students real-world experience in settings such as hospitals, rehabilitation units, community healthcare services, and therapy environments. This practical experience helps students build confidence, professionalism, and employability skills while working with experienced healthcare teams.

Progression

This T Level provides an excellent pathway into higher education, apprenticeships, and employment across the health and therapy sectors. Students may progress onto university courses such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, sports rehabilitation, nursing, or other allied health professions.
The qualification also supports progression into healthcare support roles and higher apprenticeships within hospitals, rehabilitation services, community care, and therapy support settings.

Assessment

Assessment combines learning with practical healthcare skills to reflect real working environments within therapy and rehabilitation services. Students complete a mixture of written examinations, an Employer Set Project (ESP), and occupational specialism assessments across the two-year programme.
During the course, students are assessed on their understanding of healthcare principles, therapeutic support processes, communication, teamwork, safe practice, and person-centred care. Occupational specialism assessments include realistic healthcare scenarios where students demonstrate planning, therapeutic support, monitoring, evaluation, and professional discussion skills linked directly to Supporting the Therapy Teams practice.
