The Travel and Tourism students lined against the wall in the airport posing for a photograph before catching their flight to Seville Our Travel and Tourism Students have just returned from a two-week trip to Seville, the historic city in the Andalusia region of Spain. Over this trip, students got the chance to experience a range of work placements and use their free time to explore this rich and storied destination. Opportunities like this give our students the chance to get hands-on experience in the travel and leisure industry, enhancing their studies and giving them the best chance of succeeding in their careers.   a group of students posing for a photo behind the bar at a restaurant they are working at as part of their work placement The students got the chance to work in a number of travel-related areas, including with tour guides, travel agents, hotels and restaurants. Working alongside highly experienced industry experts, the students built on their existing knowledge and classroom learning to solidify what their studies had taught them so far. Every student was able to complete their placement, with some fantastic feedback from all the employers we have partnered with.   A group of students sightseeing during their trip to Seville in a large, historic plaza. There is a building with columns and arches behind. But it wasn’t all work. Our students also had some fantastic opportunities to sightsee and relax during the trip. Group activities on the trip included a trip to the Plaza de Espana and a guided tour of Seville exploring the city’s rich history. A language exchange was a fun chance for students to test out their language skills while immersing themselves in the local culture.   Studying Travel and Tourism is a way not only to build skills and gain qualifications in an exciting and vibrant industry—with Eccles Sixth Form College, it also empowers our students with unique opportunities to explore the cultural heritage of the wider world. We always encourage our students to take a proactive approach to their education, going beyond what they learn in the classroom to a mode of learning that encompasses the nuance that the job market demands.
