The Living Library: Become a Human Book

Salford City College Group is inviting local residents to be part of a powerful storytelling event designed to challenge stereotypes, break down barriers, and foster greater understanding across the community.
Inspired by the globally recognised Human Library movement, the College will host its very own Living Library at Pendleton Gateway on Friday, 20 June - and is currently looking for volunteers to take part.
Unlike a traditional library, the Living Library allows visitors to 'borrow' people instead of books. These volunteer ‘human books’ will share their personal stories in one-to-one conversations, offering a rare and honest glimpse into experiences that are often misunderstood, marginalised, or seldom spoken about.
The event provides a safe and welcoming space for open dialogue, where listening replaces judgement, and curiosity leads to connection.
If you have a story to tell and would like to volunteer as a human book, applications are open until Sunday, 9 June.
