Runshaw College v Eccles 1st Team
Eccles run out comfortable winners
Eccles made the trip to Runshaw with a squad of 11 players on a very wet and windy day. Facing the wind in the 1st half was always going to be hard. Eccles however did look the most dangerous and had a great chance after 15 minutes when Rafael Ceita was put through on goal with some excellent team play but dragged his shot just wide of the left post. Another excellent team play involving 15 passes resulted in a chance for Zinadine Tietz but the Runshaw keeper made a great save. Runshaw had a great chance to take the lead on 35minutes when the striker went around Dion Banton but an outstanding block by Josh keelan on the line kept thee home side out. With 1 minute to go till half time some great foot work from Rafael managed to find him some space to unleash an excellent left footed effort which flew over the keeper into the top corner. It was 2-0 just after half time when a great long ball by Harry Morgan found Kwadwo Oduro running through to deal with a bouncing ball to smash it into the middle of the net. Runshaw were back in the game 5 minutes later when the wind caused confusion in the Eccles box and the striker smashed the ball into the roof of the net, 2-1 game on. The game became a scrappy affair for the next 15 minutes with neither side in much control, but with 10 minutes to go the game was put to bed. Harry Morgan won a brave header on the half way, Bailey Parrish ran down the wing and put in a great cross for Confi Benson to tap home for a final score of 3-1
