MATCH REPORT: Eccles 1st’s v Myerscough College 1st’s

Eccles claim dogged win

With just 2 minutes on the clock Eccles took the lead. A quick throw in from Fayaaz caught out the Myerscough defenders and allowed Confi to sneak in and head a great finish over the keeper. Myerscough then took control of the game and dominated until they equalised early in the second half when some poor defending allowed the Myerscough attacker to nip in and finish Into the top corner. Myerscough continued the pressure but with some excellent defending and outstanding goalkeeping including a 1 handed stop that was flying into the top corner From Dion Banton. A loose back pass from  the Myerscough fullback was intercepted by Alan Kay who rounded the keeper and rolled it into an empty net. The visitors ramped up the pressure again searching for an equaliser and Eccles had to produce some excellent last ditch defending to hold the lead. With 5 minutes to go some great work from Bailey found Fayaaz who in turn found Brad who put Alan through to slot the ball into the far right corner for his 2nd and Eccles’ third. The game stayed at 3-1 with Eccles expertly seeing out the final three minutes.
