MATCH REPORT: Eccles Women v Coleg Cambria Women
A fantastic first 10 minutes seals the game for Eccles.
It was Eccles Women's best display of the season. The girls won the game within the first 10 minutes of the match. A positive start was capped off with the opening goal, a great cross from Grace Pomfret on the right hand side was coolly finished off at the back post by Ellissa Dunbar.
The second and third goals came soon after. Morgan Partington and Katie Ball combined to put the hosts 2-0 up after 5 minutes. Soon after Katie Ball was through on goal again and neatly slotted home to put Eccles into a commanding lead after 10 minutes.
Eccles could have gone further ahead but wasted a handful off opportunities. Cambria’s number 4 was causing some problems for the Eccles defence down the right hand side but she found Maddison Henneffy in fine form between the sticks. When called upon she continued to make sure the score line remained at 3-0.
In the second half chances were few and far between, Eccles went close on 2 occasions, when Katie Ball cut in from the left and narrowly missed the right hand post. In the last 10 minutes Cambria won a penalty which they neatly converted.
The game ended with the hosts running out 3-1 winners.
